Geek Freak Weekend and Pi Day in Princeton, NJ

March 11, 2011

With Einstein’s Birthday coming up on March 14th, what better town to be than in his last place of residence – Princeton, NJ? The day has been nicknamed Pi Day Princeton, since it’s on 3/14 or 3.14, the numbers in the value of Pi. Since Princeton is so amazing, they’re holding their second Pi Day celebration, which is the mastermind of Mimi Omiecinski, owner of Princeton Tour Company. Last year’s Pi Day was great. This year I anticipate it being beyond amazing, since they have dedicated an entire weekend for the celebrations, which has been coined Geek Freak Weekend. There’s even an iPhone app for it!

This brings us to Landau’s. It’s a Princeton institution. Not only does it sell fine woolens and classic clothing, it has an Albert Einstein museum in the back of the store! This year they’re working with Mimi and Joy Chen (owner of JOYCards) in bringing some “swag” to the event. Joy created the awesome graphics for Pi Day Princeton and Geek Freak Weekend, and supplied Landau with the designs to print out shirts for the occasion. Below is Joy’s AnaJet PHOTOshirt being printed right before my very eyes!

My new friend Jake (pictured below) showed me some of the T-shirts they have printed for Pi Day/Geek Freak Weekend. The best part is, with the AnaJet, they can print just what they anticipate needing, and can quickly print more if necessary. The shirts are high quality, and reasonably priced. You can buy goods for the weekend at Landau’s or check out the Pi Day Princeton site to purchase swag for delivery.

While you’re at Landau’s check out their Einstein museum in the back. There are photos, a cutout, newspaper articles, letters, books, a statue and more all waiting for you to view. After all, it is Einstein’s birthday weekend. For a listing of events, get the free iPhone app from the iTune’s App Store or check out the Pi Day Princeton site. Hope to see you there!
